MAP COLLECTIONS IN AUSTRALIA : A DIRECTORY

The latest edition of Map collections in Australia: a directory was launched at the Australian Map Circle 2003 annual conference held in Sydney, February 2003.

The Directory is now an online directory hosted on the National Library of Australia’s website. It provides electronic access to information on map collections around Australia and is based on the fourth, printed edition, which was published in 1991. The database allows you to search a range of organizations, which hold a wide variety of maps and associated cartographic materials from Australia and overseas.

Collection managers are responsible for ensuring a record of their collection is included in the Directory. Data entry is secured by a password which may be obtained from the Map Curator, National Library of Australia An automatic reminder to update each collection record will be sent automatically once a year.
